People interested in history, nature or wellbeing are being invited to free events at Victoria Park next week.
The city centre park hosts a tour of its fascinating memorials on Tuesday 18 April, starting at 10am at the fountain. The tour will tell the stories of the park’s grade 2 listed memorials and the ships and crews they commemorate.
There’s also a butterfly survey on that day. Meet at the fountain at 2.30pm and information and equipment will be provided.
On Wednesday 19 April, weekly Yoga in the Park sessions start – just turn up at the fountain at 10am. Beginners are welcome – just bring a towel or mat and a bottle of water. Donations welcome.
There’s no need to book for these events.
Portsmouth City Council is working to improve the park’s value as a community space, a wildlife haven and a much-loved part of the city’s heritage.
The project has been developed with the local community and enabled by a £2.4m grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible thanks to National Lottery players.
