WorkL’s Employee Voice Workplace Awards 2022 has announced the winners of the Best Workplace for Diversity and Inclusion 2022 category, with Portsmouth City Council crowned a winning organisation.

Portsmouth City Council staff independently entered their employer via WorkL’s Best Workplace Awards, which this year saw over 26,500 organisations enter across all categories.

Staff scored Portsmouth City Council 80% or above on workplace satisfaction to crown the council a category winner, securing the position of gold award winner. The global average score for organisations is currently at 60%, where companies secure a bronze award. Companies scoring over 70% receive a silver award.

The WorkL Employee Voice Awards is the UK’s largest employee-led awards, celebrating organisations who are going above and beyond to provide a great experience for staff. The awards help organisations improve their employee experience, with WorkL giving expert advice and guidance based on a company’s results.

Cllr Chris Attwell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Central Services, said: “We’re proud that we’ve won this award, as it demonstrates that we’re helping to lead the way in diversity and inclusion.

“We’re committed to championing diversity and inclusion at the council and this award highlights that this is recognised by our staff, which is incredibly important to us.”

The Founder of WorkL is the former Trade Minister and former Managing Director of Waitrose, Lord Mark Price. He said: “I’m pleased to congratulate Portsmouth City Council on beating thousands of other companies across their category to be crowned a winner. Being given a Gold Award, in such a difficult time in business, is a real feat. Our awards are celebrating organisations that are leading the way in their category, providing a great experience for employees and currently, there is nothing more important for businesses to focus on than their team.”
