Visitors to the popular museum, run by Portsmouth City Council, will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events that are mostly included with their The D-Day Story ticket. There will also be a free online event streamed to The D-Day Story’s Facebook page, for people to learn more about D-Day from their own homes.
Three of the events will be onboard the last surviving Landing Craft Tank (LCT 7074) which played a vital role in transporting men and supplies across the English Channel for D-Day.
The events range from choir performances at twilight aboard LCT 7074, to a poppy brooch-making class, along with talks from historical and military experts and a book launch.
Cllr Steve Pitt, the council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Economic Development said: “There are fantastic events being held at The D-Day Story this autumn with such a wide variety that I’m sure everyone will find something they enjoy. I’m particularly happy that there is even an online event, to reach those who are unable to attend in person. I encourage everyone to visit at least one of these experiences in any capacity they can, and I must say a huge thank you to the knowledgeable and dedicated team at The D-Day Story for organising such wonderful opportunities.”
