Visit Portsmouth will support local tourism businesses to help them achieve a new ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard mark, re-open safely and will offer free promotion on their popular website.

Visit England designed the ‘We’re Good To Go’ self-assessment scheme in partnership with the national tourist organisations Tourism Northern Ireland, VisitScotland and Visit Wales to provide a ‘ring of confidence’ for all sectors of the tourism industry, as well as reassurance to visitors that businesses have clear processes in place and are following industry and Government COVID-19 guidance on cleanliness and social distancing.

As tourism businesses prepare to re-open in the city, the Visit Portsmouth team, who are part of Portsmouth City Council, are committed to supporting local tourist businesses who are a vital part of the local economy. They will support tourism businesses to achieve the new ‘We’re Good To Go’ mark and are offering free advertising on their website which can have over 200,000 visitors in summer months. Visit Portsmouth doesn’t just cover attractions and accommodation but businesses that make up the wider city offer such as cultural and creative businesses and places to eat and drink in busy visitor areas.

Cllr Steve Pitt, the council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Economic Development, said: “We welcome the new ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard mark which will help businesses to show they can re-open safely and welcome visitors back to Portsmouth.

“We are committed to supporting the safe re-opening of tourism businesses in the city and are looking for ways we can help them – such as offering free advertising on our Visit Portsmouth website which attracts a huge number of visitors looking for things to do in the city.”
