Support for the voluntary and community sector

Portsmouth City Council Grants 2008-2009

As part of its  support to the Voluntary and Community Sector Portsmouth City Council operates an annual grant programme. Grant packs for 2008 –2009 are available from 1st October to 20th December 2007. The closing date is 31st December 2007 and all applicants will be notified whether or not they have been successful  by 1st April 2008

This year we are asking everyone to complete a short questionnaire to confirm they are eligible to apply before we send out a grant application form. The form will only take a couple of minutes to complete – if you are able to answer “yes” to all the questions please return the completed form to us and we’ll send you an application pack. Please do take time to read the criteria and check that your organisation meets at least one of them.

The reason we’ve introduced the form is that in the past a  number of people have asked for and in some cases completed application forms only to discover that they aren’t eligible to apply for a grant. For 2007-2008 £1,394,017 was allocated in grants to organisations working within the city. Portsmouth City Council also offers access to a free funding database which has details of over 4,000 sources of funding for voluntary and community groups. Portsmouth4Community can be accessed from this website - you can find the link to Portsmouth4Community to the right. 

We are launching a free service to businesses, voluntary organisations, charities and community groups, and social enterprises to search for sources of funding for any venture or project.

Portsmouth4Funding contains details of over 4,300 funding schemes and information on over 4,500 trust funds. This information is continuously researched and updated. 

Within Portsmouth4Funding three separate services are provided:

• Portsmouth4Business
• Portsmouth4Community
• Portsmouth4Social Enterprise
