Corporate strategies - why we have them

Strategies are about the way we do things to help achieve our objectives in a planned, coherent and co-ordinated way. Basically the strategic approach looks at:
  • where we are now
  • where we want to get to
  • how we will get there
  • how will we know when we have got there

Within the city the overall strategy for improving quality of life for local people is detailed in the Local Strategic Partnership’s Community Strategy. Our contribution to the Community Strategy and the improvements we want to make as an organisation are detailed in the Corporate Plan. How individual Directorates contribute to the Corporate Plan is shown in individual Directorate Business Plans. In addition there are a range of issue specific and cross agency strategies that help contribute towards making Portsmouth and the surrounding area a better place to live work or visit.

Here you will find information on the strategies and plans that we have within the organisation as well as guidance that we provide within the council, for example, on how to prepare a business plan.
