Take Part Pathfinder
Last updated: 22 February 2012 17:26Take Part Portsmouth Portsmouth City Council was one of eighteen national Take Part Pathfinders established by the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2008 to 2011 (Portsmouth joined in April 2009) to support community leadership and active citizenship learning across the city.
The pathfinder aimed to:
- build the skills and confidence of local people
- support people and organisations in developing an understanding of barriers to participation and how to influence decisions
- provide a range of information about local opportunities to become involved
- provide accreditation of learning where appropriate
The Take Part Pathfinder was based on the principle of ensuring that activities were accessible, relevant and action-orientated. The project team upheld a belief that participants in any part of the programme deserved a legitimate answer to the “So what?” question.
