Volunteering in PortsmouthLast updated: 14 April 2014 11:07
Do you want to make new friends, boost your confidence and improve your CV, as well as making a real difference to your community? If so, then volunteering could be for you.
Volunteers make a vital contribution to all aspects of community life in Portsmouth, whatever their interests or skills. There is a huge variety of opportunities for any volunteer: from helping an elderly neighbour with their shopping, joining a team creating a new community garden, or providing legal advice for a local charity.
Before applying for any volunteering opportunity, think about what you have to offer and what you would like to gain from a volunteering experience:
- how much time do you want to commit?
- what days or times would you be available?
- what do you enjoy doing, or what are you good at?
- Are there any new skills you would like to learn?
What volunteering opportunities are available?
Download the Volunteering opportunities bulletin below to find out. Opportunities may be with Portsmouth city council, with other public bodies or with voluntary sector organisations. The bulletin is updated monthly and groups the available opportunities to volunteer as follows:
- conservation projects and the environment
- working with children
- working with adults, including people with disabilities & the elderly
- the arts, music, museums and libraries
- helping your community.
