Thumbs up for Goldsmith Infants

Ofsted logo Pupils, parents and staff at Goldsmith Infant School are celebrating after their recent Ofsted report graded the school as ‘good’.

Inspectors visited the school in Bramble Road, Southsea over two days last month.  They commented, “Due to an interesting and practical curriculum, good teaching and practical support, all pupils achieve well throughout the school.”

They were particularly impressed with the school's involvement in the local community, which has included carol singing on the Guildhall steps, sports events, hosting events for the elderly and raising money for charity.

The inspectors also praised the ‘challenge’ afternoons where pupils work on projects such as building towers from newspaper or designing brochures about the Olympics.

Headteacher, Alison Spittles, said: “We are delighted with the Ofsted inspection which rated our school as good.  The inspectors made some very positive comments about Goldsmith Infants.

“We will be working hard to improve in the areas they have suggested so we will continue to provide the best possible education for our pupils.”

The inspectors rated the overall effectiveness of the school as ‘good’.
