A year of successes for Harbour School

Harbour School logo The Harbour School is celebrating its achievements since opening a year ago by inviting people to meet staff and partners at the Harbour School Tipner Lane site from 4pm- 6pm on Tuesday 21 October.

The new school opened a year ago to offer improved and a wider range of support and services to children and young people in Portsmouth with Behavioural,
Emotional and Social Developmental needs, and those whose health stops them attending school for a period of time.

In the last year the school, which is based across five sites in the city, has provided:

  • A range of education programmes to 267 children and young people aged 9 – 16
  • Supported 342 individual families and their children in primary and secondary mainstream schools
  • Supported 55 young people in year 11 on tailored packages which ensured they either attend college, are in training or employment after they leave school.

Harbour School has achieved the following successes in its first year:

  • 91.8% of the young people achieved 1 A*-G passes across the school
  • 88% are in employment, education or training after leaving the school
  • 53 are fully reintegrated to mainstream schools with a further 17 partially reintegrated.

Jill Roucroft, Director of Harbour School, said:  “We are delighted with the progress we have made in our first year as the Harbour School.

“Our key aim is to ensure that all the children and young people have access to the most suitable provision at the appropriate time and the Harbour school is achieving this.”
