One World Week starts at the Central Library

One World Week (OWW) flag
Get down to the Central Library through October for a special ‘Food for the World’ exhibition and feed your mind! The display is to mark One World Week (19th-26th October) and shows how the way we produce our food affects climate and biodiversity and also links to worldwide poverty. Entry is free so bring the whole family for a fascinating and informative exhibition!

Lindy Elliot, Portsmouth Libraries Manager said; “This is a fascinating exhibition which really opens your eyes to the effect that food production has on big issues like climate change. A real must-see.”

There will also be an Inter Faith walk, on Sunday 19th October, visiting a variety of local places of worship and a ‘Food for the World’ event on Sunday 26th October with information stalls, speakers, multicultural food and entertainment at Friendship House, Elm Grove, Southsea, from 1.30-5.00pm. Tickets for this event are £1.

OWW is a development education charity, which encourages local people to use a week as a focus to get together for activities and celebration of One World issues, using a common annual theme which this year is ‘Growing Together’.
