Then join the Portsmouth Environmental Forum, an independent group which makes sure decision-makers take green isssues into account.
The forum meets up to eight times a year to receive presentations from key organisations and to visit sites of major developments. Its wide-ranging membership provides great scope for learning and information sharing about environmental issues that affect the city.
Work Programme 2009-10
Issues to be considered:
- Tidiness in the city.
- Geothermal energy.
- Plans for Farlington Marshes.
- Environmental research projects carried out by the University of Portsmouth.
- Pans for the commercial port.
- Fishing and dredging in the Solent, Portsmouth and Langstone Harbours.
- The proposed reservoir at Havant Thicket.
Possible visits by the forum:
- Waste Water Treatment Works at Budds Farm, Havant.
- The Incinerator, Portsmouth.
- Water Treatment Works at Farlington.
- Eastney Pumping Station.
- The Heritage Area, The Dockyard.
