Love Albert Road Day will be taking to the street on Sunday (28 September) and this year the road will be closed to keep festival-goers and other road users safe.
The day has been organised by the Albert Road traders and has been a year in the making, with Portsmouth City Council and the police supporting the event.
Tim Hobbs, chair of the Love Albert Road group, said: “It’s going to be a great day out for the whole family. We’re all really looking forward to welcoming the whole city along to the best party of the year and showing everyone what Albert Road has to offer.”
Love Albert Road Day kicks off at 10am and runs until 5pm. Visitors can expect a wide variety of entertainment from live music from great local bands, street entertainers, food stalls and skate demo’s.
Albert Road will be closed in two sections, from the junction with Festing Road to the junction with Waverley Road, and from the junction with Waverley Road to the junction with Victoria Road South. There will be no access to the sections of the road that are closed from 8am until 6pm, diversions will be in place to the north and south, and drivers are advised to avoid the area if they can, especially in the afternoon.
Buses will be diverted as follows:
The 17 will go down Victoria Road North, Victoria Road South, Clarendon Road, South Parade, St Helen’s Parade and Festing Road before joining the normal route along Highland Road. The 18 will take the reverse route.
