Inspired? youth arts projects prepares to go out with a bang
Young people from the Inspired? are hard at work this week, putting together a final celebration that will ensure the two-year youth art and culture project goes out with a bang.
The Inspired? Sound Collision promises to be a grand finale with a difference, mixing sounds from fresh and funky local musicians, and a specially created youth orchestra, supported by professionals from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. As well as a medley of sound, the event will be brought to life with an explosion of visuals, including live films and artwork.
Inspired? is a two-year youth arts culture project that has been taking a snapshot of young people’s lives and culture in Portsmouth. Jointly run by the Arts and Cultural Development Service and the Youth Service, and funded by the Arts Council England South East, Inspired? has been capturing activities, events and happenings that young people aged 12-19 are involved in and enhancing young people’s experiences through artistic projects across the city.
Over two years Inspired? has built up a legacy of partnership work leaving behind sustainable projects and relationships between young people, youth workers and artists. Partnership working is vital to this project and enables Inspired? to make sure the work achieved is embedded in youth arts culture in the city. To date, Inspired? has worked with over 14 different organisations including the African Women's Forum, Tiny Horse Media, the Aspex Gallery and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Inspired? Sound Collision will take to the stage at the New Theatre Royal on Sunday, September 28th at 7.30pm. Tickets are free and can be obtained from the Box Office at the New Theatre Royal.
