Portsmouth City Council would like to invite its residents and leaseholders to its first annual conference on 4 October. The event, organised by residents, will give people a chance to meet others from their area, learn more about how to make their neighbourhood safe and will include fun activities for all the family.
Four workshops, which will be held in the morning, will last for about an hour and will cover the following topics:
Jackie Ruston, Residents’ Consortium Volunteer and event organiser, said: "This is the first time we have held a special conference for residents. It’s going to be a great way for people to discuss similar issues with other residents.
"We hope to bring people up to date about housing services and projects that are going on in their area as well as let them know how to get involved. We want to inform people how their rent money is spent by the council and what they can do to influence plans. "
After lunch there will be activities such as Tai Chi, art and craft and digital photography. A local gardening expert will be on hand with advice about how to make the most of even the smallest space.
The conference will be held between 9.15am and 4.15pm at the Dame Judith Professional Centre in Cosham. A crèche with activities is available and transport can be provided. Early booking is essential as places are limited. To book your free place telephone the conference team for free on 0800 032 1531.
