Roll up for new beach volleyball court

Players of all ages should head down to Southsea's new beach volleyball court on Saturday, where Portsmouth Volleyball club will be hosting a day of activities.
Funded by Portsmouth City Council, the new purpose built facility can be found close to the bowling green, opposite the D-day Museum.
The club will be running a junior session between 10am and 12noon on Saturday 20 September and children aged seven and over are welcome to join in. From 1pm there is an opportunity for adults to join in the fun, with the Portsmouth Volleyball Club on hand to instruct and organise games for anyone who wishes to have a go.
Beach Volleyball is an increasingly popular sport and in August Gunwharf Quays hosted the Urban Beach Volleyball Tour, which featured world-class, beach volleyball junior coaching sessions and a corporate challenge for local teams. It also featured in the Beijing Olympics and Britain will be hoping for success at the London 2012 games.
The facility provides Southsea seafront with a new and exciting venue, which will promote participation in volleyball as well as a number of other beach sports including beach soccer, rugby and cricket.
Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Terry Hall said: "Beach volleyball is an increasingly popular sport that was featured in the Beijing Olympics. I am delighted that we are able to provide this great new court that will give players of all ages the chance to take part in the sport, as well as being a great addition to Southsea seafront."
The facility is open to the public at no cost and will be set up as volleyball courts with a view to host a variety of other events and sports arranged by Portsmouth City Council in the future.
