Mystery of Conan Doyle Collection comes to the Alderman Lacey Library
Fans of Sherlock Holmes are invited to come along to Alderman Lacey Library on Wednesday 17 September 2008 at 2.30pm to listen to a presentation on the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection.
The Arthur Conan Doyle Collection, bequeathed to the city of Portsmouth by Richard Lancelyn Green, perhaps the leading collector of Conan Doyle memorabilia, brings together a unique variety of books, documents and objects connected to Holmes and the life of his creator.
Sarah Speller, who is the Conan Doyle Project Coordinator for Portsmouth City Council, will be giving a presentation called The Arthur Conan Doyle Collection Lancelyn Green Bequest - What's all the fuss about? It's an opportunity for Sherlock Holmes fans and novices alike to hear all about this extraordinary collection, part of which is currently on display at the City Museum in Museum Road, and the progress that has been made in preparing the material for public access. Sarah will also be bringing along facsimiles from archival material for visitors to look at.
Reserve your free ticket now by contacting Alderman Lacey Library on 023 9282 3991 or by email to alderman.library@portsmouthcc.gov.uk. If you are unable to make a visit on this occasion, watch out for events that will be taking place in other libraries across the city from September to March.
