Safer Portsmouth Parthership
The Safer Portsmouth Partnership (SPP) has responsibility for reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and substance misuse in the city.The SPP is made of key agencies, working together to improve community safety, these agencies include Hampshire Constabulary, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth City Teaching Primary Care Trust, Hampshire Probation, Wessex Youth Offending Team, Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, University of Portsmouth and voluntary sector and community representatives.
The SPP aims to reduce all crime, however the Partnership Plan of 2008-11 identifies 5 priority areas:·
- Violence – reduce domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, racial violence and homophobic violence
- Anti-Social Behaviour – reduce anti social behaviour related to alcohol and young people
- Drugs and Alcohol – reduce alcohol related violence, parental substance misuse and drug and alcohol dependency
- Young People – reduce the number of young people committing offences and misusing substances
- Re-offending – reduce levels of adult re-offending focusing on drug related crime (burglary, vehicle crime) and violent offenders
Each year the SPP develops a Strategic Assessment, which informs the Partnership Plan (see link below).
