Sports funding up for grabs
Portsmouth-based sports clubs,their members and Portsmouth residents have the opportunity to apply for sports-related funding of up to £500.
Grant Aid is allocated by the City of Portsmouth Sports Council to support sport and physical activity. The categories include coaching and volunteer courses, sports equipment and support to talented individuals.
Jean Cornish, Development and Policy Coordinator at Portsmouth City Council said “We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to share the £3,710 remaining in this financial year. Successful applicants can normally expect to receive 50% of their project’s funding, but if a club has achieved Sport England’s Club Mark standard then they may apply for up to 70%. We encourage jointly funded projects and the cash must be used to benefit residents and clubs.”
Applicants will need to send in their completed forms no later that 15 September 2008 in time for the next meeting of the Sports Council on 25 September.
