Mountbatten Centre now open

Mountbatten Centre Thieves broke into the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on Sunday night with the aim of stealing large amounts of copper piping and electrical cables. This has resulted in a power loss at the Centre, which is currently closed until further notice.

Electrical engineers are on site assessing the damage and making the building safe before it can be re-opened. Police have been informed.

The thieves were disturbed at 5am by maintenance staff starting their shift, and ran off.

The centre will remain closed until engineers can confirm the power can be safely switched back on. Certain areas are also closed off until police have visited.

Update

Repairs have now been made and the Mountbatten Centre is open as usual.
