Art music and dance in Victoria Park on Sunday 20 July

Victoria Park Young people are getting the opportunity to showcase their talents at a free arts and music festival in Victoria Park on Sunday 20 July from 2 - 6pm.

Organised by the Inspired? project, the colourful and vibrant event aims to celebrate young people's culture and inspire budding artists aged 12 to 19.

With an eclectic mix of live music - all by young local musicians - together with youth circus theatre, street dance, interactive art activities and stand up comedy, the festival promises to be a feast for eye and ear.

Art and Soul Traders (based at The Lodge Arts Centre in Victoria Park) are running an open street-art graffiti activity with DJ Sparky from Power FM compering the event.

Tamara Groen from the city council's arts service said: "This event is a celebration and showcase for the talents of Portsmouth's young people including live music, circus skills, dance and art. It's a mix of different styles and genres and aims to have a little something for everyone.

"The live acts include Joe Black, Fresh Legs, The White Coats and performances by Streetforce DC and Bandbazi Youth Theatre. We also have interactive art activities, led by Art Space Portsmouth artist Jane Kilford."
