New panels mark out historical high points

Chain motif Eleven new interpretation panels located at key points along the Millennium Promenade will help give visitors an insight into the history of the area including Point, King James' Gate and Spur Redoubt.

The previous panels had been subject to vandalism and weather damage and were in a poor state of repair. The colourful and robust new panels are now in place in time for the school holidays.

The route is marked by the 'chain link' motif and waymarking symbols on the pathway - a leaflet about the route can be purchased from Visitor Information Centres.

Lorraine Hawthorne from the city council's tourism office said: "Walking is a great way to explore the city - it's the 'green' option and helps keep you fit too. There's lots of fascinating historical detail included in the panels, which are designed to help visitors and residents find out more about the city."
