Enterprising garage reassuring customers

In June 2008, CBS (Clutches, Brakes & Servicing) became one of only nine Portsmouth garages to become members of the nationally recognised 'Good Garage Scheme'.

Kevin Marsh and Jon Grauman started their business in February 2006 at Portsmouth City Council's 'Portsmouth Enterprise Centre' in Quatremaine Road.  This year as they looked at how to develop and grow the business further they recognised that customers face a great deal of confusion over the number of garages in the city and the services offered.

Jon Grauman, CBS Manager said:"Customers are being constantly stretched with the increasing fuel prices, and when they need their car serviced or fixed they want to know that they are getting value for money.  We feel that being part of the 'Good Garage Scheme' helps to reassure customers of the service that we offer, as well as giving them freedom to give and read feedback on the website."

The Good Garage Scheme ensures that members provide a host of services as standard and work within a code of practice.  Customers are free to leave positive or negative feedback on the main website, which helps future customers get the reassurance that they want about their choice of garage.

Clare Seek from the city council's Enterprise Centres added: "It's important for companies to differentiate themselves from others, especially start-ups in the current economic climate, and as we look to support start-ups growing, this is a message that we try to re-iterate to all types of firms."
