Enjoy an evening of opera in Victoria Park on 19 July

Victoria Park Portsmouth City Council's annual free event - Opera in the Park - is back by popular demand.

Opera in the Park will take place on Saturday, 19 July at 7.30 pm in Victoria Park and will be presented by Opera Interludes.

Opera Interludes bring together singers from the major British opera companies for special events and festival performances. Over the last decade the company has achieved a considerable reputation for presenting opera in theatres, palaces, country houses and embassies

  • Venice

Venues in the United Kingdom include:

  • Salisbury International Festival
  • The Victoria and Albert Museum
  • Windsor International Festival
  • 10 Downing Street

The programme for the evening will feature favourite arias and ensembles from Puccini, Bizet, Verdi and Mozart, performed by artists in sumptuous costumes of the Victorian period in the magical setting of Victoria Park.

Heather Todd from the city council's events team said: "This event is always very popular and has a lovely atmosphere. The setting in Victoria Park - one of Portsmouth's hidden gems - provides the perfect backdrop to a magical evening of music."

Refreshments will be available, but please feel free to bring a picnic.

Remember to bring a seat or blanket to sit on and something to keep you warm.
