The Groundlings Theatre Company are performing classic favourites in the park again this summer with their Open Air Theatre Festival next week.
Twelfth Night and The Importance of Being Ernest will be at Stanstead House, Rowlands Castle on 25 and 26 June and Victoria Park in the city centre from 27 to 29 June.
The talented professional cast features Sydnee Howard as Viola and Richard Stride as Lady Bracknell - a traditional Shakespearean role reversal. Both have hung up their Star Wars light sabres to bring audiences in the area two of the all time most popular comedies.
Voted Runner Up in The News "Best Professional Production" Award 2006, Celia Muir returns to the Groundlings cast and Ben Claybon - a young actor from the Portsmouth area - makes his professional debut.
A graduate of ALRA (The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts), Ben has worked with the BBC and Channel 5 and looks forward to performing in his home town with the Groundlings.
Heather Todd from the city council said:" With great entertainment guaranteed, why not bring a picnic and a friend and enjoy a fabulous evening of theatre in the open air."
Tickets are available from £9.50 - £13.50 from the Box Office on 02392 737370, for more information go to www.groundlings.co.uk
The event in Victoria Park is supported by Portsmouth City Council.
