The second of 2008's five Farmers' Markets is coming to Cosham on Saturday 28 June from 10am to 2pm, in the precinct shopping area and south of the precinct along the High Street.
With the warmer weather arriving and thoughts turning to dining outdoor, Cosham Farmers’ Market has some of Hampshire’s finest fresh local produce available for a picnic or a barbeque. Award winning sausages, home made burgers, free range chicken joints or low fat venison steaks all make very tasty treats for the BBQ. Why not try adding fresh salads, tomatoes and maybe catch some of the last of the asparagus to complete the main course, all washed down with either a cool glass of cider, beer or a sparkling Pinot! And to finish the meal, what better way could there be than to serve some delicious ripe strawberries with creamy smooth ice cream. Your guests will be in al-fresco heaven.
Regular and new stallholders will be showcasing their goods at the farmers' markets in Cosham this year, where shoppers can be assured of buying top quality meat, succulent sausages, free range eggs, fresh seasonal vegetables, delicious Hampshire honey, jams and chutneys and freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes.
At a Hampshire Farmers' Market all produce sold must have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked or processed within Hampshire - or ten miles of the border. The producer, or someone directly involved with the production, must sell the produce themselves and no bought in produce is allowed.
Colin Walker, District Centres Co-ordinator said: "As a result of the success of the first three markets held in 2007 we now have five Farmers' Markets booked for 2008.
"This is great for the shopping centre as we can continue to attract more people to the area, to sample the products on sale and let them see what a thriving local shopping centre is sat on their doorstep in Cosham High Street. We hope they go from strength to strength through 2008 as they did the previous year and enable us to get more dates for the future as a sign of the high demand for this type of event in the north of Portsmouth."
The other three markets taking place this year are on Saturday 30 August 30, 25 October and 29 November from 10am to 2pm in the High Street.
