First elected
2002 (lost seat in 2006, re-elected 2007)

Council work
Cabinet member for culture and leisure, member of governance and audit committee.

Life outside the council
I’m 56. My husband John and I live in Southsea, about 100 yards outside the ward, and have two grown-up sons. I work part-time as a trustee of the Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust.

Portsmouth favourites
Eastney seafront, with its plants and wildlife, Eastney Beam Engine House.

Interests
Gardening, walking, architecture and local history. I like Coronation Street, 60s music and period dramas.

Challenges
Crime, climate change and inappropriate building developments.

Why I’m a councillor
I wanted to put something back into the city I love.
