Local Government Electoral Areas (City Council Wards)
Portsmouth City Council is divided into 14 wards; St Thomas, St Jude, Central Southsea, Eastney & Craneswater, Milton, Fratton, Charles Dickens, Baffins, Nelson, Copnor, Hilsea, Paulsgrove, Cosham, Drayton & Farlington.
Each of these wards is represented by three city councillors. City Council elections are held in three years out of every four years and elect 1 councillor per ward. The next elections are scheduled as follows:
* 5th May 2011
* 3rd May 2012
* 1st May 2014
Please note that it is possible that these dates could be amended in the event of a General Election or a European Parliamentary Election.
Parliamentary Constituencies
Portsmouth City Council is divided into two parliamentary constituencies; Portsmouth South and Portsmouth North. These are comprised of the following city council wards:

Each of these constituencies is represented by a Member of Parliament (MP). The MP for Portsmouth South is Mike Hancock CBE and the MP for Portsmouth North is Penny Mordaunt.
European Parliamentary Constituency
Portsmouth City Council is part of the South East region European Parliamentary Constituency. There are 10 Members of European Parliament (MEPs) that represent the South East region. European Parliamentary Elections are held every five years and the next will be held in 2014.
