"What do we mean by inform?"Sarah, Birmingham
Response
'Inform’ is the first and most basic form of involvement – to provide communities with information about an authority’s function. This is fundamental in its own right but also in supporting other more active forms of involvement.
It may include providing information on services available in an area and how to access them; information on how to make a complaint or information on how to get involved in working for the authority.
The Local Government White Paper had a significant focus on providing communities with information on the performance of an authority and its partners.
Other ways of informing include though local newsletters and papers; meetings and websites providing feedback on how views have shaped services or reports setting out how an authority and its partners are performing.
