Equalities and Accessible Parks

We are trying hard to ensure that all of our parks and open spaces and the facilities within them are available for everybody to use and enjoy.

The Parks Service are committed to making sure that our greenspace remains accessible for every user regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability or disability. To enable us to achieve this we are:

  • continually assessing our services to see where improvements can be made within existing resources and maintenance programmes
  • making equalities issues a key element of our ongoing ‘Service Plans’ and in the planning of all future projects
  • having independent assessments of our parks carried out by people with a range of disabilities and our play areas by RoSPA, to ensure the evaluation is as thorough as possible (see the links at the bottom of the page)
  • consulting with both users and non-users to see where we are doing well and highlighting areas we can improve on
  • making all our leaflets and information available in a range of formats to increase their availability
  • promoting ways to contact us, such as this website, to encourage feedback

If you do have any questions, suggestions, comments or concerns then please contact us using the link to the right of the page or email us at parks@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
