So why not join in and use your green fingers this year?
There is both friendly rivalry and comradeship as participants are encouraged to enter their hard work in the annual Portsmouth In Bloom community competitions. This year we had over 250 entries in the 36 categories - these range from best front garden through to best display at industrial premises. There is a category for just about everybody - even best balcony!
If you would like to find out more on how to get involved or would like an information pack, you can contact Stephen Rees on (023) 9283 4833, print an Entry Form found at the bottom of this page or email us at parks@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
In the meantime, enjoy the displays all over the city this summer.
HOW DO I BECOME AN 'IN BLOOM' CO-ORDINATOR?
If you like the idea of improving the city and in particular immediately where you live, then anyone with a bit of sparkle can become an In Bloom co-ordinator. Here's what you have to do :
Start in a small way and you will surprised how well people will respond and the difference in your neighbourhood will be really pleasing. You will be talking to people whom you have possibly never spoken to before. Enter some of the community competitions, it is not just a case of winning, but taking part.
And finally, for all co-ordinators and prize winners there is a presentation evening when a video and slides are shown, as the City Council wish to thank everyone for their efforts.
