It can be difficult for customers to know whether they are dealing with traders who are operating fairly and honestly so Portsmouth City Council Trading Standards Service have a 'fair trade scheme' - SQUARE DEAL!

Traders are assessed to see if they meet the membership terms and conditions and when they are accepted into the scheme they are reassessed at regular intervals. 

So, what does SQUARE DEAL mean to you?

All members of the scheme

• are committed to fair trading
• have a customer complaints procedure
• undertake to comply with the spirit and the letter of the law
• will not restrict your rights
• have provided staff training

By working with traders like this we are raising the standard of trading in Portsmouth and promoting fair and honest business practices.

How do you spot a member?

Members will have the SQUARE DEAL logo displayed  at their business premises, they may also use it on their paperwork and advertising material.
