Developing Portsmouth
Last updated: 16 January 2012 11:03 UKPortsmouth is changing fast, and more change is on the way, bringing more growth and prosperity for local people.
The city is in line for a billion pounds worth of investment – bringing 16,000 new jobs, 5,000 new homes and a gigantic boost to its economy.
Huge schemes like the redevelopment of the rundown Tipner area, the transformation of the city centre and the creation of an out-of-town business park are on the way.
And the city needs ambassadors to inspire young people and help them grasp the opportunities ahead.
We have brought other organisations together, in both the public and private sectors, to work with us to help regenerate the city, under the banner of Shaping Portsmouth.
Below is a presentation about the exciting changes ahead, given by Cllr Mike Hancock, our Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Economic Development, to the recent Shaping Portsmouth annual conference, titled Portsmouth is Open for Business.
If you can become a Portsmouth Ambassador and help inspire young people and others about the great future for Portsmouth, you can email Kathy Wadsworth, our strategic director for regeneration, on business@portsmouthcc.gov.uk, putting ‘ambassador’ in the subject line.
Our vision for the future, and our plan for getting there, is laid out in our regeneration strategy.
