Level three foster carer

image of a teenage boy in a hoodie As a level three carer you will foster some of the most difficult to place children and young people in Portsmouth. We particularly need placements for brothers and sisters and teenagers who need to remain in one placement until they are adults.

Placements are usually planned. Children and young people’s needs are assessed and matched to a potential carers skills and you will be fully involved in the matching process. Carers have regular supervision with their family placement social worker to ensure things are going smoothly and to look at personal development. We also have access to therapeutic support. You will be given full support on a 24-hour basis from the Skye Family Placement Team who will know you and the child in placement.

Person specification

You will need to be motivated to work with young people and be able to show commitment. You must have skills, knowledge and practice of working with young people. A level three foster carer is part of a professional network and should be skilled and competent to work in this environment. You will need to undertake additional training and there is an opportunity to gain an award at NVQ level three.

Fee

Due to the professional expectations, competencies and skills of level three foster carers, you will receive an all-inclusive fee.
