Last updated: 30 April 2010 14:41 UKWe promote a Bike2Work day during National Bike Week each year.
This years Bike2Work day will be Tuesday 22 June 2010.
Local organisations and businesses all over Portsmouth will be handing out FREE* tshirts to their employees to encourage them to cycle to work. (This year's Tshirts are available for businesses to order see order form below).
We expect 1800 people to cycle to work on the day, wearing their tshirt with the message 'Vroom'.
The aim is to encourage people to try cycling to work , with the hope that they will keep it up in the future.
Benefits of cycling include:-
- No need to pay to park
- Save money on running costs
- Get to work quicker
- More reliable than peak time traffic
- Get fitter
- Health benefits
- Reduce stress levels
- Reduce your carbon footprint
- Help reduce congestion and pollution
At peak times in cities bikes average 10-12 mph while cars travel 8-12 mph
Cycle to work and you can vroom on by!
