Arts Partners

The Arts and Cultural Development Service works closely with a number of arts organisations across the city and the region. Below is a snap shot of who these are and what they do.

Art Space Portsmouth

The principal aim of Art Space Portsmouth is the support and promotion of contemporary artists and art activities through the provision of good quality, affordable studios. Art Space provides versatile working environments for artists with 24 hour access, seven days a week, inclusive of lighting and heating. There is also access to a workshop space. Art Space has 29 studios. Art Space Portsmouth provides a supportive and critical atmosphere to develop diverse artistic practices.

Aspex

Aspex Gallery presents a varied exhibition programme of contemporary visual art by established and emerging artists and makers.

Dot to Dot

 Dot to Dot is a participatory arts organisation established in 1987.

Dot to Dot works with partnership organisations and community groups to apply for funds to pay for project work.

New Theatre Royal

The New Theatre Royal situated in the heart of Portsmouth on Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth's friendliest arts venue in the heart of the city, bringing you cutting edge dance, theatre, drama, music, children's shows and comedy.

Kings Theatre

The Kings Theatre Trust Ltd is a registered charity (No 1088254) and has been formedwith local trustees, as a result of a campaign by AKTER to save the theatre. Hampshire County Council has passed the freehold to Portsmouth City Council, which has granted a long lease to the Trust. It will be the Trust's responsibility to raise funds for, and organise the modernisation and restoration of the Theatre. Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is funded through four main income streams: public funding through Arts Council England, South West core grant (42%) and local authority grants (15%); box office income (35%); and private funding through sponsorship, grants from trusts and foundations and individual giving (8%).

SCAT

SCAT Theatre Company, based at Bedhampton Arts Centre, specialise in producing puppetry theatre shows and drama, mask and puppet making workshops for children. They are funded by Portsmouth City Council.
