Where to recycle - Bring Banks

Recycling banks Recycling doesn't stop with your collection from home. There's a whole range of items that can be recycled that we can't collect from your door, usually because of reasons to do with how the recyclables are sorted into different types at our Materials Recovery Facility.

Our recycling banks can be found at over 50 convenient points all over the city, and are often located in the car park of your local supermarket.  Depending upon the facility available at the location a variety of items can be recycled including:
  • coloured glass
  • jars and bottles
  • paper – including shredded
  • newspapers / magazines
  • cardboard
  • old clothes and textiles
  • shoes
  • books
  • videos
  • cd’s
  • food and drinks cans
  • plastic bottles

Everything that you put into the banks is either taken away to be recycled into new goods or donated to local charities.

Please note - Glass banks only take bottles and jars, no pyrex or glass plates.

  • Only use the bank between 7am and 10pm
  • Take your bags and boxes home
  • Don't leave your bottles or jars on the ground if the bank is full, take them home again or find another bank

If you find one of the bring banks full please report it to the City Helpdesk.
