Whatever you grow, having an allotment gives you the pleasure of seeing what you sow grow to maturity and, if you grow vegetables, fruit or herbs, eating your own fresh and organic produce. You also gain from the exercise and healthier lifestyle, as well as the fresh air, peace and quiet and the opportunity to meet new friends.
Portsmouth City Council manages eight allotment sites in Portsmouth and one in Rowlands Castle. The number of plots and facilities at each site are in the table on our Allotment FAQ page, which also has details of plot sizes, costs and how to apply for an allotment.
Read the information leaflets at the bottom of the page, or pay a visit to an allotment site on a Sunday morning - a popular time when other plot-holders will be around to advise or answer your questions.
Allotments UK has a wealth of advice and tips for new allotment holders.
To apply, download the application form at the bottom of the page and email email@example.com or phone 023 9268 8070.
