Artsdata
Artsdata is a scheme to help the local arts community stay in touch with one another.
It’s a database containing details on local artists, arts groups, clubs, societies and organisations as well as venues, spaces, studios and more. The best thing is that everyone who has submitted their details to artsdata has done so for the same reason – to stay in touch at the heart of Portsmouth’s exciting arts scene.
People contact us looking for artists of all sorts – painters, musicians, sculptors, drama workers, dance instructors. They might want to hire them to run a workshop, commission them to come up with a piece of public art or simply just to find out more about what that artist does. One thing is for sure, whatever you’re looking for in the Portsmouth area, we can put you in touch with the right people.
Artsdata is also used to let artists and groups know of job opportunities, training events, seminars, funding, exhibition opportunities and meetings that they might be interested in. It’s a great way to put out messages to the arts community – if you have some equipment for sale, if you need studio space to work in, or even if you just need some advice from other artists, Artsdata can help spread the word.
Who can join?
Anyone can join Artsdata and it's completely free. It’s open to all people involved in all artforms be it dance or drama, music or visual art, amateur or professional, new or experienced, serious or just in it for fun! You don’t even have to live in Portsmouth to join either – we understand that many people involved in the arts scene in the city actually live in the surrounding areas.
It’s open to individual artists, groups of artists, organisations, societies, clubs, ensembles, venues. In fact, if you have anything to do with the arts in Portsmouth you will want to be part of Artsdata.
To join, simply download, complete and return the relevant form (links can be found at the bottom of the page) which tells us all we need to know about you or your organisation to Arts Services, Second Floor, The Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth PO1 2AJ.
