Contents and Summary
Since the publication of the provisional LTP last July there have been a number of important developments that have provided us with greater clarity over how Transport Policy in the City will develop.Planning approval is now in place for the major regeneration of our City Centre, along with the re-configuration of the highway network and improved public transport integration into the heart of the improved City Centre.
Secondly, South Hampshire is being identified as a growth point in the emerging South East Plan, importantly subject to improvements in infrastructure
provision, for which transport will be a high priority.
Finally in November we received the long awaited decision from the Secretary of State for Transport on the LRT Tram Scheme, which was disappointing; at least this means that we can commence work with our partners in Solent Transport on preparing an alternative solution for the South Hampshire area.
