5. Portsmouth Long Term Transport Strategy
A wider long term transport strategy has been developed for Portsmouth to provide context for the LTP. The LTP five year period is, in effect, the first part of this longer term transport strategy for Portsmouth. This acknowledges the city’s unique geography and constraints, particularly those associated with its maritime location and lack of major east-west links.Walking and cycling play a strong role in the city and together with the opportunity to introduce bus-based rapid transit have the potential to transform the city.
