10. Transport Innovation Fund
DfT invited authorities to apply for funding through the Transport Innovation Fund (TIF). Portsmouth’s bid considered the growth scenarios addressed in Chapter 5 for the South Hampshire subregion. TIF resources are dependent on road user charging.Although the initial TIF bid was not supported by DfT, Portsmouth is keen to deliver major improvements through TIF and will be submitting further applications alongside those of the other authorities in the sub-region. The proposal involves investment in the bus-based rapid transit system in tandem with a workplace parking levy; the Solent Transport partnership is ideally placed to take forward the PUSH agenda.
