Last updated: 13 August 2012 15:33 UKTraffic is still a major cause of injury for children in the UK. Targeted road safety sessions are offered to all schools in Portsmouth based on their needs. To discuss sessions for your school email us at roadsafety@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
Sessions include;
Key stage 1
- Loan of 'Street Feet' and lesson plan- indoor play session to learn the Green Cross Code
- Child pedestrian training for all year 1 pupils (on-site crossing skills session in small groups)
- Year 2 sessions currently in development
- Walk to School month kits
Key stage 2
- Year 5/6 sessions to discuss the transition to secondary school and independant journeys
- Bikeability Level 1 and 2 cycle training
- Junior Road Safety Officer scheme
- Walk to School month kits
Key stage 3
- Bikeability cycle training Level 3 (and Level 2 catch up sessions)
- Cycle Challenge annual event for year 7 students
Key Stage 4
- New sessions in development for Spring 2013 on moped and passenger safety
