Homecheck
We want to help you to be safe in your home, so we have a team of officers who are trained to carry out safety inspections in your home and advise you on any hazards. They will also supply and fit a range of safety devices such as stair-gates and smoke detectors - mostly free of charge.
The aim of Homecheck is to improve home safety for people over 60, households with a child under five years old and people with disabilities. The service is available to homeowners, council tenants and tenants of private and registered social landlords.
We also carry out free minor repairs such as replacing leads and plugs on irons or fires, and small electrical repairs such as raising sockets. We will arrange to have lever taps fitted for people with disabilities.
If you would like a Homecheck, call
Private Sector Housing Team on 023 9283 4274.
If we cannot help you, we can give advice on agencies that can such as Age Concern or Social Services.
