Commemorative certificates

They make a unique keepsake and are the perfect gift to celebrate the event, an anniversary or preserve family history. All our certificates can be for past or present events within England or Wales.
We offer certificates for:
- births
- marriages
- naming ceremonies
- renewal of vows
Important information
Please note that the commemorative certificate is not to be used for any legal or statutory purposes. If the event took place outside of Portsmouth evidence is also required to show that the event has taken place, such as a certified copy certificate of the actual event.
To order your commemorative certificate, you can use the form below, download a copy and send it back to us or visit us in person. Each certificate costs £5. Payment is required with your application and you can pay in the following ways:
- cash (in person)
- cheque / postal order (in person or by post, made payable to "Portsmouth City Council")
- credit / debit card (in person)
Examples of each type of certificate available are on display at Portsmouth Register Office. These specially designed certificates are printed on quality paper and come in a standard framing size of A4 (210mm x 297mm).
