Introduction and General Scoping Report
Sustainability appraisal and strategic environmental assessment are the processes by which local planning authorities and local highway authorities are required to systematically assess the likely social, economic and environmental effects of the draft policies and proposals in their plans as they prepare them.While each individual Local Development Document (LDDs) must be accompanied by a sustainability appraisal, we have decided to develop a generic approach for the whole LDF in order to maintain a consistent approach. A generic sustainability appraisal framework (incorporating SEA) has therefore been produced to inform the appraisal of all the LDDs. It is shown below.
