South Parade Pier
This information sheet provides background information on South Parade Pier, particularly the planning issues that may affect any current or future proposals. The Pier is a Grade II listed building (as are two lamp-posts on either side of the landward entrance) and is also within Conservation Area no 10 “Sea Front, Southsea”.
Although parts of the structure date back over 90 years, South Parade Pier continues to have a key role in attracting visitors to the seafront, a role which is likely to continue into the future as the opportunities of the site are realised.
The key historical and architectural features of South Parade Pier are described in more detail in the Register of Listed Buildings.
