Pompey Centre (Fratton Goods Yard)

This information sheet highlights proposals for the former railway goods yard at Fratton which had been gradually run-down over a number of years.

A Planning Brief for the Yard was approved by the City Council on 17 July 1990, following a public consultation exercise. The brief stated that the Goods Yard & National Freight Corporation depot must be redeveloped in a comprehensive manner and generally supported a predominantly employment based scheme.

The site occupies a prominent location alongside the railway & distributor roads, and the City Council wished to secure a development of the highest quality
