Environment, waste and public protection
Welcome to environment, waste and public protection, which is split into these sections:.
- Commercial - includes food hygiene standards in food premises, health and safety, port health, animal health and infectious disease control.
- Environmental protection - covers noise, air quality, air pollution, contaminated land, pest control and domestic clinical waste collection.
- Trading standards - protects residents by providing guidance to businesses on their legal obligations. Officers intervene when unfair trading or other associated criminal activity affects consumers' interests. They also manage Square Deal and the Edge projects, which build better businesses and help people become smarter shoppers.
- Waste management - manages waste collection, recycling and disposal through our contract with Veolia Environmental Services.
