Portsmouth Carers Support groups
Last updated: 16 July 2012 15:20 UKCarers' Groups are a great way to meet people, have a break and share your experience of caring.
Whether you are new to caring or have been caring for a while, going along to a carers' group has something to offer most carers.
If you are new to caring, life can suddenly seem a strange, bewildering place. No-one prepared you for this caring role, there is no instruction manual or map to guide you through.
Attending a carers' group will give you the chance to talk to other carers, carers who may have been there and bought the T-shirt. While they won’t be able to tell you what to do, they can offer you support and guidance and the knowledge that you are not alone as a carer, that other people have been through the emotions and experiences you are having and that, no matter how you may feel, you are doing ok.
The carers' groups currently running in portsmouh are listed on the Carers Centre website. Please see the link below. If you are interested in attending a carers' group, please contact the group leader named on the groups list below.
If you need any support with choosing a group, please do not hesitate to contact the carers centre on 023 9285 1864 or carerscentre@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
